Portugal is the non-Italian addition to our tour portfolio. Why Portugal? Well, to know Portugal is to love Portugal, so let’s get a little acquainted. For starters, Portugal is located on the southwestern side of Europe on what is known as the Iberian Peninsula. It is considered one of the oldest countries on the continent and has been explored, conquered, and settled by civilizations since pre-historic times. It comprises both the mainland and several islands, most notably the Azores, Madeira, and Savage Islands.
For MP TOURS, Portugal’s appeal comes from its less-travelled (although increasingly more travelled) status. Perhaps most importantly, it is possible to visit a large part of the country without travelling too far. From the Douro Valley (north) to Lisbon in the centre, to the Algarve (south), there is beauty and variety in foods, landscape, history, and well – everything!
Our tour, entitled From Porto to The Algarve, is designed for travellers who want to have a leisurely yet comprehensive appreciation for Portugal. We will be:
- Staying in three different towns in unique accommodations
- Exploring the Douro Valley on a river cruise
- Strolling through winding streets and hopping on the tram
- Tasting famous Portuguese custard tarts (pasteis) – every day if you choose to
- Being mesmerized by Fado performances – music with a story
